About Me

I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where I learned to ride a bike before I could properly walk. It was this love for cycling which led my friends and I to dirt jumps, skateboards and snowboards – basically anything where the possibility of getting hurt (or heckled) was high. We marveled at the magazines covering the sports that we sacrificed ourselves in and it was here that I found my love for graphic design. The logos, board graphics, magazines, music and clothing all inspired me to cut and paste to make my first ‘zine.

After soon realizing one could actually make a living at cutting and pasting, I sought out an education which revolved around darkrooms, stripping (of the film variety, that is), plate making, typesetting (back when Compugraphic ruled the world) and points and picas. Things would only get better from here.

After making my way out to Vancouver in 1991, my curiosity really got the best of me. Printing, magazines, publishing, ‘zines, screen printing and a Mac LC630 soon replaced scissors and wax. In 1995, the sound of a modem connecting to something called the “Information Super Highway” changed my life forever.

Despite a year of slinging cappuccinos (hey – it kept me in touch with the “street”), one thing has always kept me on track: working with text, graphics and images to communicate in various mediums. (I’ve been known to shoot a photo or two as well…)
